Golden Emerald is competing in Miami.<br />

Two years ago, barmaid Liisi Kütt of <strong>T<strong>all</strong>ink</strong>’s Victoria I ship entered<br />

the history books by winning fi rst prize at the prestigious Bacardi Cruise<br />

Competition with her cocktail Summer Fairy. From next year, Bacardi<br />

Cruise Competition will become a part of the global Bacardi Legacy<br />

cocktail competition with the fi nals being held in Miami on 22 <strong>Feb</strong>ruary.<br />

<strong>T<strong>all</strong>ink</strong> <strong>and</strong> Silja Line will be represented there by Andres Polyakov,<br />

manager of the restaurant of Superstar, whose cocktail Golden Emerald<br />

has been selected as one of the three best cocktails out of the 4,000 recipes<br />

submitted.<br />

Andres found inspiration for Golden Emerald in 2013, when visiting<br />

a Bacardi rum factory in Puerto Rico. “I found myself thinking of the<br />

times when the conquistadors sailed the seas <strong>and</strong> discovered new l<strong>and</strong>s.<br />

This was the time when people were trying to reach India, but discovered<br />

America. I imagined pirate ships, streams of rum <strong>and</strong> treasure chests on<br />

the bottom of the sea...” Andres says. “That’s how the idea of the Asian<br />

Jewel cocktail was born - combine green Matcha tea with golden Bacardi<br />

rum, add some green ingredients <strong>and</strong> a bit of yellow lemon, <strong>and</strong> that’s it,<br />

a new drink is born.”<br />

The global Bacardi Legacy cocktail competition was established to<br />

give the best bartenders of each country a chance to ch<strong>all</strong>enge the top<br />

bartenders of the world. This cocktail competition <strong>offers</strong> a chance to prove<br />

that anyone with a passion for mixing cocktails can change their life by<br />

creating a personal cocktail heritage that will st<strong>and</strong> the test of time <strong>and</strong><br />

deserve a permanent place in the Bacardi family history.<br />

GOLDEN EMERALD recipe:<br />

• 2 parts Bacardi Carta Oro rum<br />

• 0.5 bar spoons Matcha Tea powder<br />

• 3 parts hot water<br />

• 0.5 parts green apple syrup<br />

• 0.5 parts cucumber syrup<br />

• Juice of half a lemon<br />

Preparation: fi rst prepare the Matcha:<br />

place 0.5 bar spoonfuls of Matcha Tea<br />

powder into a sm<strong>all</strong> bowl, pour in some<br />

hot water <strong>and</strong> stir into a nice even mass.<br />

Then pour the Matcha, the syrups <strong>and</strong> the<br />

lemon juice into a mixing glass half fi lled<br />

with ice cubes, <strong>and</strong> stir the components.<br />

Take a wine glass half fi lled with ice<br />

cubes, drain the syrup/Matcha mix into<br />

the bowl, pour Bacardi Carta Oro rum<br />

over it, stir <strong>and</strong> serve.<br />
