WELCOME to canada’s largest supply chain event!
On behalf of Informa Global
Exhibitions, I am pleased to
welcome you to the third annual
Cargo Logistics Canada Expo &
Conference (CLC)!
We are assembling the largest and
most diverse gathering of stakeholders
in Canadian supply chains — all under
one roof. Our goal is to connect those
that own cargo with those that help
move it, while offering two days
of unprecedented education and
discovery in a flexible format. As the
only full-scale multimodal trade show
in Canada, CLC is a hub for people,
products, services, and technologies
that will help you optimize your
air, sea, rail, road cargo logistics,
material handling, distribution, and
warehousing for any cargo type. As
you will see, our exposition floor is a
centrepiece, not an afterthought.
Just like your supply chain, the scope
of our educational content is broad.
We hope that you will join us for the
entire event. However, if your schedule
only allows for a session or two, or an
hour on the trade show floor, CLC’s à la
Ben Carson
Show Manager, Global Exhibitions
Informa
carte format allows you to attend only
what you wish.
The Cargo Logistics Canada team is
pleased to recognize all supply chain
professionals for the role they play in
driving the global economy. We extend
our gratitude to all of our sponsors,
exhibitors, supporting partners, and
media for making this event possible!
I would like to extend a warm
welcome to the delegates
attending the Cargo Logistics
Canada Expo and Conference,
which is held in Montréal for the
first time.
The transport and logistics sector is
very lively in the Montréal metropolitan
area and is responsible for some
122,000 direct and indirect jobs. It
involves more than 6,000 businesses
that handle close to 150 million tonnes
of goods.
Montréal recognizes the crucial role
played by the logistics and transport
sectors for the city’s economic vitality
and competitive edge. Our metropolis
works to improve highway access to
port facilities and cooperates with
the Québec Ministry of Transport to
facilitate truck access to the highway
network.
We must take advantage of a positive
momentum. With the introduction of
Québec’s Maritime Strategy and free
trade agreement between Canada and
the European Union, Montréal has a
Denis Coderre
Mayor of Montréal
unique opportunity to reaffirm the
metropolitan area’s position as a major
continental hub for transportation, the
handling of goods and international
trade.
I wish participants a productive
meeting and an excellent stay in
Montréal.
A note from our editor
We are excited to host the third
installment of Cargo Logistics Canada
Expo+Conference in Eastern Canada,
where there has clearly been a vacuum
for an all-encompassing showcase
like this in the shipping and logistics
space — where all supply chains and
logistics professionals can assemble
in one place.
Moreover, I am pleased to welcome
you to beautiful Montréal, situated
in Canada’s Continential Gateway. As
you peruse our show guide, you’ll get
a good sense of CLC’s wide-sweeping
demographic consisting of cargo
owners and the many diverse supply
chains that service them.
W01 – Québec: Competitiveness, Growth, and Expansion
Wednesday, February 17 • 8:30 am – 10:00 am • Room 511D
Presented By
A great momentum is building in the logistics and freight
transport sector around Québec and especially in the Greater
Montréal area. This panel will discuss the ($9-billion)
plan announced by the Québec government to develop the province’s maritime
infrastructure (with $4 billion of this amount anticipated to come from the private
sector). Premier Philippe Couillard is confident this initiative will create 10,000 jobs
within the next five years and up to 30,000 by 2030. Some of the proposed projects
are related to tourism, fishing, and transportation along the St. Lawrence River, as
well as the development of a maritime transportation logistics hub in the Greater
Montréal area. This panel will also discuss the creation of the metropolitan cluster
of logistics and transportation in Montréal (‘CargoM’). CargoM’s mission is to bring
together all players in logistics and freight in Greater Montréal.
W05 – Air Cargo 2020: A Clear Vision
Wednesday, February 17 • 11:00 am – 12:30 pm • Room 511D
Where is the air cargo industry today and where do
we expect to be in 2020 – only four short years away?
Executives from the air cargo sector will speak to their
experiences and expectations on subjects as far-ranging
as eAWB, air cargo security (here and around the world),
bigger aircrafts, and the first/last mile. At the end of this
discussion, participants will have a better understanding of
the challenges and opportunities created by technology, the
changing regulatory environment, and infrastructure and
capacity.
W03 – Foreign Trade Zone and the Trans-Pacific Partnership -
What Does It Mean and How Does It Benefit You?
Wednesday, February 17 • 8:30 am – 10:00 am • Room 511F
Presented By
The Government of Canada defines the term “foreign
trade zone” (FTZ) as a “reference to a specific
designated location within a country that is eligible for
duty and tax exemptions with respect to the purchase or
importation of inputs or finished goods. These goods are then processed, assembled
or packaged in the FTZ for re-export (in which case taxes and duties do not apply),
or for entry into the domestic market (in which case taxes and duties would be
deferred until the time of entry).” With foreign trade zones (FTZ) being created
across Canada over the past year after a successful pilot project in Manitoba,
please join us to learn more about foreign trade zones and the Trans-Pacific
Partnership (TPP). What do they mean for the Canadian economy? How can they
benefit your business?
that is driving stock market sentiment and directing economies globally.
Meanwhile, lower energy and fuel prices have bolstered manufacturing
and consumers with additional spending power on other goods, services
and financial activity. But in these markets there are changes taking place
through mergers and acquisitions, forthcoming economic realities and
realignment among the key resource rich countries. This session will paint
the picture of the global realties at play that are impacting consumption
and production patterns, and will set the stage for the next session.
T08 – Canadian Grain and Livestock Outlook
Thursday, February 18 • 10:30 am – 12:00 pm • Room 511F
The North American grain and oilseed complex is embroiled by large global
supplies while the livestock and protein complex is adjusting herd counts
and processor alignment amidst dynamic global consumption patterns and
volatile price activity. These market features are sending conflicting signals
to producers while giving buyers optionality to source supplies. This session
will develop and synthesize the Canadian crop and livestock production,
consumption and trade dynamics, all in context with the U.S. and global
situation and outlook.
ocean fleet adjustments, and issues within the movement of commodities
globally. This session will address the cold storage markets, reefer
