’65 Robert E. Lee, M.B.A. ’68, age 84, of Rocky<br />
Face, Georgia, died Sept. 8, 2015. He worked for<br />
the Federal Reserve System for 32 years. He<br />
served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean<br />
War.<br />
’66 Thelma Louise Elliott Larsen, age 81, of<br />
Jacksonville, Florida, died Aug. 5, 2015, as the<br />
result of a fall and head injury. She helped<br />
develop childcare centers in Birmingham and<br />
taught in the Duval County, Florida, school<br />
system.<br />
’67 Ben Byrd Henderson Jr., age 70, of<br />
Enterprise, Alabama, died Sept. 8, 2015. He was<br />
president of Enterprise Banking Company,<br />
chairman of the board for Regions Bank and a<br />
leader in many civic organizations. At Samford,<br />
he was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity.<br />
’67 Florence Irene Rhodes Stephens, J.D. ’71,<br />
age 90, of Asheville, North Carolina, died Aug.<br />
11, 2015. She was a retired nurse who had served<br />
in the Women’s Army Corps during World War II.<br />
’68 Conrad Elbert Adair, M.B.A., age 85, of<br />
Birmingham died Aug. 25, 2015. After retiring<br />
from a 32-year with U.S. Steel, he taught at<br />
Birmingham-Southern College and other<br />
schools, and for the Federal Emergency<br />
Management Agency. He taught speed reading in<br />
the Samford After Sundown community course<br />
program.<br />
’68 Riverson Samuel Leonard, J.D., age 73, of<br />
Indian Rocks Beach, Florida, died Aug. 17,<br />
2015. He was a Tampa Bay area attorney.<br />
’71 John F. Morris, age 80, of Birmingham died<br />
Aug. 27, 2015. He served the Birmingham Police<br />
Department for 30 years, retiring as deputy chief.<br />
He taught criminal justice at Samford and<br />
Jefferson State Community College, and was<br />
chief of the Gadsden Police Department. He<br />
served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam<br />
War.<br />
’73 David Wayne King, age 78, of Piedmont,<br />
Alabama, died Sept. 4, 2015. He was a pastor of<br />
churches in Alabama, Kentucky and Florida.<br />
’75 John Hester of Flagstaff, Arizona, died Aug.<br />
12, 2015. He was an Indian Health Service<br />
pharmacist, most recently at Hopi Health Care<br />
Center in Polacca, Arizona. He was a member of<br />
Kappa Psi pharmaceutical fraternity.<br />
’75 James Hutchens, J.D., age 65, of Sarasota,<br />
Florida, died Sept. 28, 2015. He was a longtime<br />
civil attorney.<br />
’86 Mary Lou Davis Clayton of Birmingham died<br />
Aug. 5, 2015. She began her 35-year career in the<br />
real estate industry at Johnson-Rast & Hayes and<br />
retired as vice president of corporate communications<br />
at Realty South.<br />
’90 Mary Dianne McKinnon Burnett, Ed.S., age<br />
67, of Birmingham died Sept. 17, 2015. She was<br />
a retired educator.<br />
’01 John Gary Wyatt, age 38, of Vestavia Hills,<br />
Alabama, died Aug. 27, 2015, in an airplane<br />
crash. He was president of Wyatt General<br />
Contractors LLC, a member of Associated<br />
Builders and Contractors, and a trustee of the<br />
Birmingham Chamber of Commerce. He was a<br />
certified instrument rated pilot and certified<br />
scuba diver. At Samford, he was a head cheerleader,<br />
and a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon<br />
fraternity and Alpha Kappa Psi business<br />
fraternity. Memorials made be made to the John<br />
Gary Wyatt Leadership in Business Scholarship<br />

’10 Cameron Mark Bean, age 28, of Soddy-<br />
Daisy, Tennessee, died Sept. 21, 2015, of injuries<br />
he received after being struck by a motorist while<br />
on an evening run. He trained and ran professionally<br />
with Zap Fitness, and recently worked at<br />
Fast Break Athletics. As a member of Samford’s<br />
track and field and cross country teams, he set<br />
four school records and earned numerous<br />
Southern Conference honors, including three<br />
individual championships. Memorials may be<br />
