COMPETITION<br />
We want to know what book characters inspire your pupils.<br />
This is their chance to draw their favourite book character and be in with a chance of winning a selection of books for your school.<br />
The winners’ work will be seen by thousands of people throughout the year, displayed on the walls of The Riverway Centre.<br />
Final submissions will need to be sent in by Thursday 24 March 2016. You can submit entries by email to<br />

CELEBRATING WORLD BOOK DAY<br />
Everyone loves World Book Day from dressing up as your favourite book character to getting excited about literacy. If your school<br />
is participating in World Book Day, we would love to hear about it. Share your stories or pictures with us @entrustedu or<br />

JOIN US TO CELEBRATE 400 YEARS OF SHAKESPEARE’S CREATIVE LEGACY…<br />
We will provide you with hands-on activities and inspirational ideas that you can take back to the classroom, making your pupils’<br />
first encounter of Shakespeare an unforgettable one.<br />
This course will enable you to:<br />
> > Explore themes and language within Shakespeare’s work at different levels.<br />
> > Develop a range of drama strategies to use across the curriculum and with any age.<br />

ADVENTURE TALES<br />
All good stories come from experience.<br />
Available for Years 4 to 6, the aim of our Adventure Tales programme is to enable children to create their own thrilling short story, in<br />
turn developing their literacy and creative writing skills.<br />
Over two days at one of the Entrust Outdoor Centres, pupils will create a story based around their own adventure. With notebook<br />
in hand, they will set off on a journey of exploration and adventure. Along the way they will collect ideas for stories, beginning onsite<br />
and concluding back in your classroom.<br />
Adventure Tales is available from 1st September to 30th April.<br />

How do you use your knowledge of boys’ development to engage and motivate them when planning writing activities? What does<br />
effective practice to support boys learning to write in the early years look like? Have you ever considered why our early years boys<br />
do not achieve as well as the girls, particularly in writing?<br />
This course will enable you to:<br />
> > Develop the knowledge, understanding and skills to effectively support boys writing development.<br />
> > Be able to understand the specific needs of boys in learning to write.<br />
> > Acknowledge existing effective practice and identify how to extend this further.<br />

ASPIRE TO EXCEED IN <strong>LITERACY</strong><br />
This bitesize session will support early years staff in identifying the key aspects of the ELG and Exceeding descriptors. We will<br />
identify the basic skills that need to be in place to support attainment.<br />
This course will enable you to:<br />
> > Explore and clarify the expectations of the Early Learning Goals and exceeding descriptors for Reading and Writing.<br />
> > Have a range of ideas to support the provision of opportunities to reach the exceeding level<br />
> > Focus on the basic skills that will need to be in place in order to support this.<br />

IGNITE THE SPARK <strong>LITERACY</strong> HOLIDAY HUBS<br />
Our Ignite the Spark holiday hub is a fun-based, three-day educational booster, delivered in your school by our specialist<br />
consultants.<br />
This hub explores literacy texts in a creative way involving drama, music and art. The activities we facilitate are a medium for<br />
problem solving and developing communication and interaction skills.<br />
Ignite the Spark lasts three days, runs from 9am – 3pm, and is available on the following dates:<br />
> > 17th -19th February 2016<br />
> > 4th -6th April 2016<br />
> > 1st -3rd June 2016<br />
> > 27th – 29th July 2016<br />
> > 3rd- 5th August 2016<br />
There must be a minimum of 20 pupils. Snacks are included, but schools must make arrangements for children’s lunches.<br />

DYSLEXIA WORKSHOPS<br />
Our Dyslexia Workshops support staff to develop their knowledge and skills to support pupils with literacy difficulties. Each<br />
workshop is tailored to your specific school’s needs and can cover the following themes:<br />
