Access <strong>RSNA</strong>’s Quality Improvement Tool Box<br />

TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF the comprehensive compendium <strong>of</strong> tools compiled by <strong>RSNA</strong>’s Quality<br />

Improvement Committee to help members meet practice improvement requirements, go to the<br />

Quality Improvement Page at <strong>RSNA</strong>.org/Quality.<br />

Once there, click Tools on the left-hand side and then choose<br />

from the following list.<br />

Brainstorming: Users are given the steps needed to create a<br />

brainstorming session or organized process for generating a list<br />

<strong>of</strong> ideas about an issue or process. Sessions can <strong>of</strong>ten last several<br />

hours.<br />

Cause & Effect Diagram: Sometimes referred to as a Fishbone<br />

Diagram, this tool is used to categorize and organize ideas about<br />

contributing factors and their relationships within a process.<br />

Flowchart: Users can learn to create this design or map illustrating<br />

the steps and decision points that make up a work process<br />

enabling the team to examine individual steps and identify problems<br />

and improvement opportunities.<br />

Multivoting: Usually following a brainstorming session, this<br />

simple, structured approach for selecting the most significant or<br />

highest priority item from a list relies on popular opinion and is a<br />

method <strong>of</strong> prioritizing projects or elements <strong>of</strong> projects.<br />

Nominal Group Technique: This method for generating a list <strong>of</strong><br />

ideas and/or condensing ideas into a manageable number is more<br />

formal and structured than brainstorming or multivoting.<br />

Prioritization Matrix: Teams can use this tool to achieve consensus<br />

about an issue by helping to rank problems or issues by<br />

particular criteria important to the organization.<br />

Create a Custom Tab for Radiology Publications<br />

<strong>RSNA</strong> <strong>of</strong>fers widgets for the <strong>America</strong>n Journal <strong>of</strong> Neuroradiology<br />

and <strong>America</strong>n Journal <strong>of</strong> Roentgenology. To create a<br />

custom tab to keep the journals in one place on your desktop,<br />

first remove any publication widgets from your my<strong>RSNA</strong> ® main<br />

page at my<strong>RSNA</strong>.org. Then, select Add Tab on the upper righthand<br />

corner, choose Dashboard, give the tab a name and click Add Tab. With<br />

the new tab up, click Add Stuff and select widgets for the desired publications.<br />

Your new tab will keep your publications in one place.<br />
