In 2008, the oil and gas industry’s Safety Committee, representing ExxonMobil, ConocoPhillips, Chevron, and many<br />
other respected industry leaders, put out a call-to-action to the industrial supplier market asking them to solve a lingering<br />
problem in their industry – hand safety. This is one last piece of PPE for the oil platform workers. Eye, head, back and<br />
feet safety had been addressed, but hand injuries were prevalent and represented 71% of all injuries in the field. The key<br />
injuries were bruising blows, pinched fingers and fractures. They realized that something needed to be done to protect<br />
their employees’ hands. These injuries were also costing a considerable amount of money and lost productivity. <strong>Ironclad</strong><br />
Performance Wear and ORR Safety Corporation answered this call to action in cooperation with the Oil and Gas Safety<br />
Committee. The result is the KONG ® glove which is the benchmark for this industry’s hand protection program. The<br />
