WHAT IS IMPORT EXPORT CODE?<br />
• IEC stands for <strong>Import</strong> <strong>Export</strong> <strong>Code</strong> which consist of 10<br />
digit number.<br />
• It is issued by Director General of Foreign Trade<br />
Department of Commerce Government of India(DGFT).<br />
• Such code is required for <strong>Import</strong>/<strong>Export</strong> of goods.<br />
• To start any <strong>Import</strong>/<strong>Export</strong> business in India, IEC code<br />
is compulsory.<br />
• No person shall make any <strong>Import</strong>/<strong>Export</strong> without IEC<br />
code.<br />

Following are some of the documents required to be submitted:-<br />
• Self attested copy of PAN CARD.<br />
• Copy of MOA/AOA.<br />
• 2 Photographs of applicant.<br />
• List of Partners/Directors.<br />
• Bank Certificate.<br />
• Bank Current Account<br />
• Phone no and E-mail id<br />
• Copy of Landline/Telephone bill (compulsory).<br />
• IEC application form must be on Company’s Letter Head (compulsory).<br />

PROCEDURE<br />
An application must be made to the Regional<br />
Authority of Director General of Foreign<br />
Trade(DGFT).<br />
Such authority provides online filing facility<br />
for obtaining <strong>Import</strong> <strong>Export</strong> <strong>Code</strong>.<br />
Submit application along with necessary<br />
documents.<br />
After submission, DGFT will issue <strong>Import</strong> <strong>Export</strong> <strong>Code</strong><br />
within 15-20 days or less.<br />
