The Community Pledge is a scheme to
encourage more considerate car parking and
road use on the Castleton Park residential
estate, in order to create a safe environment
for pedestrians and road users.
The issue of parking safely is a concern to
many members of the Castleton Park
Neighbourhood Watch Scheme and so,
working with our local Community Safety
Partnership, we have developed this pledge.
It is hoped that the pledge will improve the
safety of our streets, and the experience for all
residents, particularly those with disabilities,
buggy users, children and dog walkers. It will
also support accessibility for the emergency
services.
TO AGREE TO THIS PLEDGE 'LIKE' OUR PLEDGE

I/We pledge...
To use driveways and parking areas, where
possible, to avoid parking on pavements.
If parking on pavements/roadside is
necessary, to allow pedestrians enough room
to pass safely and to allow neighbours to
enter/exit drives conveniently.
To park in a way that emergency service
vehicles can pass by effectively.
To adhere to the Highway Code, particularly
regarding road markings and parking close to
junctions.
As a pedestrian, to use recognised footpaths
where possible (for instance Paisley Walk
rather than the non-pedestrianised part of
Swadlincote Lane).
To maintain bushes and plants to prevent
them over-hanging onto, and obstructing,
pavements or roads.
