Bottom Line
New program offers
members ways to save
on food costs
IAAPA MEMBERS in the United States
are now eligible to join a food costsavings
program that leverages the
buying power of participating members
to garner the best prices on food,
beverages, and supplies. Amusements
& Attractions Food Purchasing
Organization (AAFPO) was selected
by the association to provide this new
IAAPA-endorsed benefit.
AAFPO negotiates better pricing
with select distributors on behalf of
the collective buyers. The program
covers many items necessary to the
daily operations of facilities of all sizes
including fresh meat, seafood, grocery
items, snacks, beverages, paper supplies,
and chemical products.
“Our food co-op program is another
great way to apply savings directly to
the bottom line,” says IAAPA’s Leslie
Hutcheson, senior manager, constituency programs and
services. “Members can save 10-20 percent of their food costs
by triggering bulk-buy prices, previously reserved for larger
facilities operating more than one location. This translates to
significant savings for a single facility, simply by combining
purchasing power with other IAAPA members.”
Manufacturer and supplier members can also benefit from
the program by becoming one of AAFPO’s select providers.
IAAPA is also planning to expand the program to other regions
in the future.
BRITTON GALLAGHER, provider
of IAAPA’s sponsored insurance
program, now offers telemedicine
services to association members
based in the United States. The
program allows employees of enrolled
members access to healthcare via telephone,
computer, and mobile app. “Telemedicine is a great
benefit to any of IAAPA’s U.S. members—both
facility operators and suppliers —demonstrating
direct savings to the bottom line through improved
productivity,” says IAAPA’s Leslie Hutcheson,
senior manager, constituency programs and
services. “Consider the time lost when employees
need to take time away from the business
to consult a doctor for either themselves
or family members. With telemedicine
there is no need to take this time off work.
Diagnosis and prescriptions all happen
online so our members can go on with
their day.”
Members and their families have
access to 24/7, 365-day, on-demand
care concerning more than 900
common medical issues. Cold and
flu symptoms, ear infections, congestion,
sinus problems, and more can be
diagnosed without leaving home thanks to
this program.
“This benefit can be added for part-time seasonal
workers who would not have a family doctor in the
region,” says Hutcheson.
Professional advice and prescriptions from a U.S.
board-certified doctor are usually available with a
less than 16-minute wait. There are no co-pays and
no limitations on use.
