Piper Aircraft AD Issued<br />

An airworthiness directive (AD) for 3,000 Piper<br />

aircraft has been issued for models PA-23-250,<br />

PA-24-250, PA-24-260, PA-24-400, PA-30, PA-31,<br />

PA-31-300, PA-31P, PA-39, and PA-E23-250. It was<br />

prompted by an accident caused by fuel starvation<br />

where the shape of the wing fuel tanks and fuel<br />

below a certain level in that tank may have allowed<br />

the fuel to move away from the tank outlet during<br />

certain maneuvers. The AD requires installing a<br />

fuel system management placard on the airplane<br />

instrument panel and adding text to the Limitations<br />

Section of the pilot’s operating handbook (POH)/<br />

airplane flight manual (AFM). Download the AD at<br />

Sun ’n Fun 2016<br />

Get ready for some fun in the sun aviation style<br />

at this year’s Sun ’n Fun International Fly-In and<br />

Expo, scheduled to take place April 5-10, 2016, in<br />

Lakeland, Fla. This aviation extravaganza attracts<br />

aviators and airplane enthusiasts from all over<br />

the globe. The event features aerial performances,<br />

exhibits, and a wide variety of educational seminars<br />

(visit www.sun-n-fun.org for more information).<br />

The FAA will also host a series of safety forums<br />

between 8:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. each day at the FAA<br />

<strong>Safety</strong> Team’s National Resource Center. NTSB<br />

Board Member Dr. Earl Weener is scheduled to<br />

speak there as well as U.S. Rep. Sam Graves who<br />

will host a general aviation town hall discussion on<br />
