JUNE 10 – 12, 2016 | THE CLUB
West
By Dane Terry
Part love story, part country-western sci-fi nocturne, West is a musical monodrama carved
from the bones of the American road-trip. But the roads are gone, and America is wild.
Dane Terry is an American composer, performer and writer. Dane is the most recent
recipient of the Ethyl Eichelberger award from PS122 and is also a part of that
organization’s RAMP residency in spring 2016. After premiering in April 2015 at La
MaMa, his show Bird In The House went on to be presented at the Public Theater as part of
the Under The Radar festival’s INCOMING! series.
BABY FAT: Act I
A Screeching Weasel Rock Opera
Music and Lyrics by Ben Weasel | Libretto by Ben Weasel (after Victor Hugo and
Francesco Maria Piave) | Directed by Michael Scholar, Jr.
Co-presented by Columbia Stages | A November Theatre Production
Verdi’s classic opera, Rigoletto, gets a punk rock overhaul by the iconic frontman of
Screeching Weasel (“Cool Kids”), Ben Weasel. In Baby Fat: Act I, we find ourselves in The
Reptile House, a Chicago club where the house band Serpentello and its entourage are at
the center of a dark vortex of debauchery from which seemingly no soul can escape
unharmed. Michael Scholar, Jr. (The Black Rider) directs this advance showing for a
strictly limited run.
“While a handful of bands are prepping storylines for the stage, this may be the first opera
in punk rock, and is a creative leap from the Weasel aesthetic.”
