Happy Tails
Star-Crossed Best Friends
This is the story of two kittens from two different walks of life who came to know and love each other. Kit Harrington
and her littermates were transferred to Seattle Humane
through our Life-Saver Rescue Program from another
shelter that lacked the resources to care for them. When
the litter arrived, it was obvious these kittens were undersocialized
and fearful. They needed extra time to become
ready for adoption, so our cat program staff placed them
with a loving and experienced foster family for individual
attention and care. It soon became apparent that Kit was
the shyest of the bunch. When her siblings were adopted,
a second foster parent took Kit into her home for additional
socialization. This volunteer had a special foster kitten of
her own named
Kit and Frizzle snuggling together
Frizzle who needed a playmate. Frizzle, brought to Seattle
Humane at 2-months-old, was a critical case. Our veterinary
team discovered a severe heart murmur – one you could
actually feel through his chest! Frizzle’s prognosis wasn’t positive but we didn’t give up on what the future might
hold for this little fellow.
Our friends at WSU’s College of Veterinary Medicine offered to perform the surgery to mend abnormal blood vessels
and blood flow in Frizzle’s heart. A team of amazing volunteers stepped up to transport Frizzle to Pullman for this lifesaving
surgery. After several surgical
procedures, Frizzle was back at home
with his foster parent and his buddy
Kit Harrington.
Kit waited patiently as her friend
healed for the next few weeks.
These two special kittens became
bonded and when it came time
for adoption, we sought out a
family who could love them both.
Kit and Frizzle are now happy, healthy
and busy entertaining their family
with all the love and silliness that
kittens bring to a home.
