forested landscape the sage and his disciple witness the<br />

death of a female crane whilst its companion hovers above<br />

and screams its pain before falling dead to the ground, the<br />

hunter holding his bow in the background, within white rules,<br />

with wide black borders, fy-leaf stamped with Mandi Royal<br />

Collection inventory number ‘4482’, the reverse with three lines<br />

of black devanagari script<br />

KRISHNA SLAYS THE DEMON VYOMASURA<br />

Opaque pigments heightened with gold on paper, blue-skinned<br />

Krishna seizes the demon Vyomasura by two limbs and casts<br />

him down, the demon Vyomasura is shown a second time in<br />

his true form and slain below, Balarama to the left holding a<br />

stake, the shepherd boys captured by Vyomasura on the right,<br />

the fgures identifed with white devanagari inscriptions, within<br />

gold and polychrome foral borders on wide red-speckled<br />

margins mounted on card, framed and glazed<br />
