The Caneyville City Commission meets in regular session on the second<br />
Monday of each month.<br />
Welcome<br />
to Caneyville!<br />
On behalf of the City of<br />
Caneyville and City Commissioners,<br />
it is my pleasure to<br />
welcome you to Caneyville.<br />
Our City was founded in<br />
1840 just below the forks<br />
of Caney Creek, for whose<br />
cane bottoms it was named.<br />
We are next to the Western<br />
Kentucky Parkway, as well<br />
as only 14 miles from Rough<br />
River State Park. Our City is<br />
a small community with a big<br />
heart.<br />
Currently, we have just<br />
completed a new ballfield<br />
complex, including new playground<br />
equipment, as well<br />
as a new walking trail for our<br />
community. We are remodeling<br />
our old Caneyville High<br />
School, home of the 1962 and<br />
1968 District and Regional<br />
Basketball Champs, both<br />
teams representing our community<br />
in the semi-finals,<br />
to serve as a community/<br />
wellness center. Each April,<br />
the alumni meet at the school<br />
for a dinner and reunion,<br />
filling our small community<br />
with many happy memories.<br />
Local area Church groups<br />
present an Easter Drama,<br />
working long hours together<br />
for a wonderful presentation.<br />
Caneyville is home to the<br />
annual Caneyville Community<br />
Fair and Homecoming<br />
in October. The community<br />
works together with the<br />
Caneyville Community Club<br />
each year to make this another<br />
special time for everyone.<br />
Our local Bank of Caneyville<br />
hosts the annual Christmas<br />
tree lighting, where students<br />
from our elementary school<br />
choir sing, and Santa comes<br />
by to talk to all the children.<br />
We continue to see citizens in<br />
our community step up and<br />
take on roles to beautify and<br />
grow our quaint little city.<br />
We are proud that our city<br />
offers a committed Volunteer<br />
Fire Department, as well as a<br />
full-time Police Officer. These
