SESSIONS
Wednesday 8 June
SIS25 - ITS technology - towards a unified sustainable transport system
TOPIC 4. Sustainable transport for people and goods
Being the world’s largest exporter and having the 14% of its GDP coming from
freight transport activities, EU constitutes a vital space for the circulation of
goods, with significance beyond the interest of its member countries. However
the current EU transport system faces multiple barriers, leading to sub optimal
performance, such as Data fragmentation and lack of integrated application
ecosystems. In this session, cross cutting issues towards an optimal merge of
ITS applications including C-ITS, electro-mobility and automation are discussed
so as to conclude to a uniform architectural vision of a sustainable future proof
transport system for goods and people.
SIS26 - Deployment of IT standards in public transport: status and trends
TOPIC 4. Sustainable transport for people and goods 11:00 - 12:30 (Carron 2)
Since few years IT standards already exists. Still, Public Transport authorities and
operators continue to struggle with proprietary IT solutions, in a today’s ultra-connected
and demanding environment. Public Transport stakeholders gathered
under the ITxPT association to organize the concrete deployment of existing
standards, not only on next-generation vehicles but also on existing fleets. This
ambitious and necessary initiative will be presented and discussed during this
special round table, giving the opportunity to Public Transport authority, operator,
vehicle manufacturer and IT supplier to present their vision and exchange with
the attendees about the current status and perspective of this paradigm shift.
SIS27 - Proactive safety: the next step to reducing accidents caused by adverse conditions
TOPIC 5. ITS and climate change 11:00 - 12:30 (Dochart 2)
With a changing climate producing severe weather, the main obstacle to improving
driver safety is that data does not consistently represent conditions at road
level. Technology exists to help prevent, or at least mitigate the outcomes of
adverse weather. By leveraging high-speed connectivity in vehicles, drivers have
access to hyper-local alerts advising them on dangerous conditions in real-time
– all the while contributing vehicle data to improve road condition weather models.
This session reviews developments in the use of cars’ data in providing road
weather conditions to drivers, including the impact technologies have on municipalities
and governments that manage transport infrastructures.
