YAMAHA R1M EC STEERING DAMPER
The Öhlins Smart EC aftermarket steering damper for the Yamaha
YZF-R1M, suitable for use on the road and racetrack.
The Smart EC damper plugs into the bike’s existing Suspension
Control Unit (SCU) to make ultra-fast changes in damping, based
on parameters that include speed and acceleration. The wellproven
qualities of the Öhlins steering damper are complemented
by the bespoke Smart EC algorithms, which alter damping settings
in real time, to suit the current riding conditions.
SUSPENSION CONTROL UNIT - SCU
No semi active suspension is better than its algorithms that control
the adjusters. The Öhlins SCU reads different bike parameters, such
as throttle control, speed, braking etc. If available on the bike, also
movement sideways, lean angles and so on, from the bike sensor box.
All signals are taken into consideration, and the best click setting for the
riding situation at the moment, is adjusted.
Needless to say, the Öhlins SCU are designed to fulfill automotive
standards in terms of temperature, vibrations, moisture and dirt. CAN
bus communication is used whenever possible on the bike application.
KAWASAKI ZX-10R
Since 2013, the Ninja comes with a semi active steering damper
ex-factory. For track day riders and high level racers that want to use
the electronically controlled steering damper, we offer a race SCU.
The Algorithms used in the Race SCU, give racing performance to the
steering damper. Not for highway use!
The TTX36 EC shock absorber is also available to the ZX-10R, with
semiactive control, totally based on riding behavior. If you ride calm, you
get a lot of comfort and if you ride very fast you get the racing setting to
match your riding style. The Öhlins Race Wiring harness, is intended to
be used in combination with the Kawasaki Racing tuning kit.
