Successful presentations have a few
things in common. With these tips
in mind, your presentation may well
become one of those memorable
speeches:
• Introduce your presentation with
a brief summary, so your audience
knows what to expect.
• View your presentations as a story that
tells about challenges, overcoming
objections, perseverance, and success.
• A picture is worth a thousand words
so use images to your advantage,
and make sure the people on the last
row will also be able to see what is
depicted.
• A graph is a wonderful tool to quickly
display an outcome, a prognosis, or
other information you wish to convey.
In line with this: percentages work
better than ‘bare’ numbers.
• Less is more: limit the amount of
text to five lines, preferably bullet
points. Use your slides as a structured
mnemonic that allows you to
passionately elaborate without losing
track.
• Talk to your audience. Have a glance
at your next bullet point and face the
audience to tell them what it is you
want to share.
• Interaction keeps the audience
engaged, so ask questions, either to be
answered by the audience, or by the
next slide.
• Repetition makes remembering more
easy. So do not hesitate to stress an
important point a couple of times in
your presentation.
• End your presentation with a summary,
using some of the bullet points in it.
