Resilience Training Lead<br />

Preventative Mental Health programme in<br />

Newham is committed to the delivery of<br />

evidence based approaches which promote<br />

emotional resilience in 10-16 year olds at<br />

risk of developing mental health difficulties.<br />

As part of our Preventative Mental Health<br />

programme delivery team, we are looking<br />

for someone with the skill set, passion and<br />

experience to facilitate transformational<br />

change in how schools support the<br />

emotional resilience of vulnerable pupils. We<br />

are seeking to employ or second a full time<br />

or part time senior education lead (between<br />

3-5 days a week, negotiable based on<br />

experience) for this exciting opportunity.<br />

They will be trained to deliver the Academic<br />

Resilience Approach developed in<br />

partnership with YoungMinds, across<br />

Newham schools.<br />

We are looking for a senior school leader<br />

who will be able to:<br />

- Facilitate the Academic Resilience<br />

Approach to secondary schools at an<br />

individual school level.<br />

- Through ongoing expert training to<br />

@teachnewham<br />

different staff groups, build whole school<br />

staff competency to identify vulnerable<br />

pupils and support them to develop a<br />

number of resilience competencies including<br />

aspiration, self-esteem and school and<br />

community connection.<br />

- Support schools through a service<br />

improvement/organisational development<br />

approach to develop and implement new<br />

policies, initiatives and ways of working<br />

which explicitly promote resilience in more<br />

and less vulnerable pupils.<br />

- Facilitate regular resilience Community of<br />

Practice meetings in each neighbourhood to<br />

share practice between the schools and<br />

collect ongoing school feedback on the<br />

programme.<br />

We will offer you:<br />

- The opportunity to be accredited in<br />

delivering emotional and resilience training<br />

in schools and the chance to lead delivery of<br />

a specific intervention model.<br />

- Training and support from national<br />

specialist organisation YoungMinds and the<br />

University of Brighton.<br />

- Ongoing professional development as an<br />

essential aspect of the role.<br />

The role will start at the beginning of<br />

September 2016 and contracts will be<br />

offered on a 1-2 year fixed term basis.<br />
