RUST magazine: Rust#12

RUST goes heritage with a spin on the BMW R nineT and goes big with a ride in the beautiful outback of Portugal RUST investigates BMW’s R nineT and finds that these new heritage roadsters are too much fun to be left to the hipsters. In fact they could set a new trend in adventure biking. And with the autumn trail riding season looming it’s time to be booking your end of year trail and adventure rides. RUST has found a great operator who is opening up the lesser-known trails of Central Portugal – well worth a look. As well, a reader asks are the manufacturers over-delivering, is less more? Anyway, it’s summer here in the Northern Hemisphere, we hope you are enjoying the peak riding season. RUST is at the Welsh Two Day Enduro this year giving the long-term test bikes – and bodies – a thorough workout. You can read about how we got on and all about the event in our next issue. Enjoy your riding – and reading! Best Jon Bentman (Editor, RUST)

I never thought I’d ever say this but I think
‘less is more’ when it comes to motorcycles.
Let’s be perfectly clear, I’m not talking
volume here – just size. I own a beautiful
KTM 1190 Adventure R, which I love to bits
and will not part with. Having said that, a
recent motorcycle expedition in Africa
