Reach for the Stars!!
Reach for the Stars!! is a generous pledge-based reading incentive program, designed
to benefit schools, classrooms, clubs, preschools, church groups, home school
groups, charities, businesses and public libraries.
The goal of Reach for the Stars!! is for participants to read, or be read to for 300
minutes over a two week period, thus developing a reading routine and receiving
Usborne and Kane Miller books for bringing in pledges.
“Reach for the Stars!! is a great fundraiser! Finally, an activity that the kids actually
do the work to earn both books and profit for their school. Also, everyone has the
capability to read or be read to. What a great way to encourage reading and the
reward is new books.
This is the easiest fundraising idea that we have participated in. Everyone wins,
new books for kids, money and books for schools.”

and a wide range of subjects for children of all ages.
HEY KIDS. Here’s how it works!
Step 1 - Accept the cha lenge! Read or be read to for at least 30 minutes a day during
this program.
Step 2 - My Sponsor Sheet! Ask your family and friends to support you reading by
sponsoring you.
Step 3 - My Reading Journal! Log you reading time in the stars on your Reading Journal.
Step 4 - My Book Order Form! (Wish List) Turn in your Book Order Form, sponsor
sheet and money co lected in an envelope.

Literacy for a Lifetime TM is a matching grant program partnering Educational Development Corporation
(EDC) with Schools, Businesses & Foundations to support local educational institutions. EDC is the leading
publisher of children’s non-fiction books. EDC is proud to have developed the Literacy for a Lifetime
program to support educational funding on the local level.
• The organization receiving the books has full control over the selection of Usborne and
Kane Miller books from an array of over 1,800 titles.
• The matching grant program can be used as often as donations/grants become available.
There is no cap on the amount that can be donated or matched.
