Unique silicon
anode technology
for the next generation
of lithium ion batteries.
Nexeon’s new Li-ion battery technology uses silicon
in place of carbon as the anode material – with the
potential to improve significantly the performance of
rechargeable batteries.
Compared with carbon, silicon has ten times the
capacity for lithium on a weight basis, and three times
its capacity by volume.
NOLOGY
The ability to store larger amounts of energy in a stable
battery will have significant implications for a whole
range of technologies. Nexeon’s silicon anode will enable
more effective use of renewable energy sources, and
products from laptops to electric cars will run even longer
on a single charge.
The Independent
ENVIRO
Globally, we dispose of more than 15 billion dry cell
batteries every year - to landfill sites.
Nexeon can have a significant impact on environmental
sustainability:
Better batteries are key to the faster adoption of
electric vehicles
Renewable energy technologies, e.g. wind and solar,
need better energy storage systems to increase their
effectiveness
Rechargeable batteries in consumer devices help
to reduce the impact that batteries have on the
environment.
MORE FUNCTIONS
Getting the most out of our mobile devices, laptop
computers and wearable technology requires the
highest possible performance from rechargeable battery
packs.
Nexeon’s technology will make a big difference to
the real world performance of these devices, and in
turn enhance our personal productivity and quality of
entertainment.
Nexeon has in place the financial resources, scientific
and engineering expertise and the managerial skills
to deliver performance-enhancing technology to its
partners in the battery industry.
LONGER WORKING LIFE
BETWEEN CHARGES
It is now widely accepted that silicon materials are the key
to improved energy densities in Li-ion batteries, and that
the winning technology will be both high performance
and low cost.
