mile markers: Nicaragua’s Picturesque Emerald Coast<br />
One of the benefits of private aviation is the easy access it<br />
provides to a variety of destinations. Recently, one of our<br />
customers flew aboard our Falcon 900 to the resort area near<br />
Managua, Nicaragua. <strong>The</strong> trip was easier than in the past, as there is<br />
a brand new airport, Costa Esmeralda Airport, now open. <strong>The</strong> airport<br />
allows travelers to more easily access resorts along the Emerald<br />
Coast. <strong>The</strong> airport, which has a 5,000 ft. runway, was funded by the<br />
owners of two of the area’s popular resorts: Guacalito de la Isla and<br />
Mukul. <strong>The</strong> airport is located just five miles south of Guacalito de la<br />
Isla in Rivas, Nicaragua. <strong>The</strong> airport also has a duty-free shop and an<br />
international Customs Department, making for a seamless entry<br />
into Nicaragua.<br />
<strong>The</strong> area is pristine, with beautiful white sand beaches<br />
along the Pacific shoreline, surrounded by a lush rainforest. <strong>The</strong><br />
Mukul Resort, one of the area’s newest resorts, and a backer of the<br />
new airport, offers a variety of packages that will appeal to those<br />
looking for a restful spa retreat or a top-notch golfing experience.<br />
Each of the 37 guest accommodations offers space and privacy in a<br />
style that fully embodies and compliments the natural surroundings.<br />
<strong>The</strong> resort offers several dining options, all serving only the finest<br />
and fresh products from the sea and local farms.<br />

<strong>The</strong>re are also 14 scheduled commercial flights per<br />
week at the airport flown by La Costeña Airlines from Managua<br />
and Sansa Airlines from Liberia, Costa Rica. However you choose<br />
to arrive to Costa Esmeralda, you will find a warm welcome and<br />
are sure to enjoy the local area, lovely beachside restaurants<br />
and breathtaking scenery.<br />
