The Work of our PTA
2015-2016 has been another successful year for Stretford Grammar PTA. We
have continued to work hard to raise money to supply the school with
extra funds to enhance the children’s education but also importantly our
events are aimed at bringing the school community together.
T
his year’s fundraising objective has been focused on raising money to
supply the specialist equipment for every child to be able to participate
in the Duke of Edinburgh Award. We have a target of £10,000 which will
cover the cost of all tents, rucksacks, compasses etc. needed to complete the
challenges.
W
e began our events in September with the Twin Peaks of Cheshire
sponsored walk where over 40 people took part in the challenge
which raised in excess of £1000. Our next event was
our Autumn Family Quiz Night in October where families and
friends battled against each other through a variety of rounds to
be crowned Quiz Champions. This was followed by a very
successful Table top Sale/Craft Fair and Family Photo Day in
November. We had in excess of 50 stalls selling a vast range of
goods and raised over £700. Also in November we ran our first
Bags to School day where students were invited to bring in bags
of unwanted/outgrown
clothes. This raised £125 towards our
target and another one is taking place on July 11th 2016. In March we once
again
hosted our annual Ladies’ Night where lots of pampering took place
throughout the evening. There were also many stalls selling a range of beauty
products, clothes and gifts as well as food and drink.
T
hroughout the year the PTA have supported the school at other events
such as Music concerts by assisting with the making of teas/coffees and
selling second hand uniform. We are always on the lookout for new
members and would welcome any help in the future however big or small.
