Level One Climbing and Abseiling Training For Leaders and volunteers
keen to gain a qualification to supervise climbing and abseiling sessions
with Girlguiding members. Post-event assessment will need to be organised.
Going Away With Part 1 Gaining your Going Away With Licence is one of
the most rewarding parts of being a Leader. In Part 1 we guide you through
the theory and provide the training you need.
Book Parts 1 and 2 and pay £97.50* now £47.50 (includes 10 camping
spaces). *£50 support from Adult Leader Training Bursary.
Leaders’ Retreat A weekend of laughter, friendship and relaxation. Try
activities, crafts and new skills for fun or to take back to the unit.
Level 1 Walking Training and Assessment Weekend Enables you to take
your girls out for their Duke of Edinburgh Award.
Level 2 Walking Training Course Enables you to take girls hill walking.
Following this course you need to attend an assessment course. These are
run across the UK and available at Waddow in September.
7–9 April Archery GB – Instructor Award A two-and-a-half-day course for adult
volunteers wishing to lead archery at an introductory level.

5–7 May New to Camping (Brownies) Bring your girls to stay in our tented village
and learn about the guiding way to camp.
12–14 May Leaders New to Camping Bring your team and up to ten girls to camp
with us and learn tips to help you complete your Going Away With licence.
Open to all sections.
19–21 May New to Camping (Guides) Bring your girls to stay in our tented village
and learn about the guiding way to camp.

1 July BCU (British Canoe Union) 1 Star A basic award covering the skills
needed to become a paddler.

attended an approved Girlguiding Level 2 Walking Training Course.

Leaders’ Days
Day 1: All things activities, 10am to 5pm – all the things that Foxlease can
offer! From up high to fires and food. Come and explore and discover!
Day 2: Pamper and craft, 10am to 5pm.
Bring your children for an activity day at Foxlease while you enjoy your
Leaders’ Day! Only £20 per child. Min age 5.

ICANDO trainings
ICANDO offers two-hour evening trainings on various topics including A Safe Space,
1st Response refresher, managing people, sectional trainings and requested topics
from Leaders. The trainings will run from 7 to 9pm on the following evenings:
27 and 28 February, 17 and 18 May, 10 and 11 October. Trainings will be 7 to 9pm.

Easter egg hunt, crafts and stalls in our Easter extravaganza.

23 July Open Day Fun for all the family at Foxlease’s annual
open day.
12-19 August Family Week An opportunity for volunteers to visit and stay
at Blackland Farm with their families and experience the onsite
activities. Open to general public.

September
Waddow Hall’s Big Birthday Bash Celebrate 90 years of
Waddow Hall as a Girlguiding centre. Highlights include a
champagne reception, activities past and present, and a
three-course dinner with dancing. There will be a house tour
and talk on the Sunday, exhibits from the archive, and further
optional activities.
Training grants
Did you know that the Activity Centres offer training grants for
new and existing Leaders? Up to £25 is available if it is your
first training, and a further £50 is available for up to 10 people
per training. All opportunities opposite are included. Get in
touch with the appropriate centre for more information and
application forms. Contact details can be found on page 2.

16 December Countdown to Christmas Get ready for Christmas at
