DEAR JACKSONVILLE STATE UNIVERSITY STUDENT:
Welcome to Jacksonville State University! You have made a very wise choice in selecting the “Friendliest Campus in the
South” to pursue your college education. Your fellow students and our faculty, staff and administrators are all committed
to making your experience at JSU very special. You will have a wonderful opportunity to develop intellectually, socially,
culturally, physically and spiritually in preparation for life and your future career. You will have many choices in selecting
from all of the programs, courses, extracurricular activities and engagement opportunities that will tailor your experience
to your personal needs and future aspirations. We are all here to help you make the right choices that will lead you to your
future success even beyond your dreams and aspirations.
Jacksonville State University is your new home. It is very important for you to become familiar with our campus, its traditions,
buildings, people, cultural and social opportunities and academic, athletic and student life programs. The more you
know, the greater will be the opportunities for you to grow. A big part of going to college is to be engaged in the life of the
campus. Getting involved in the many things that may be of interest to you will make your college experience very special
and personally enriching. It is a well-known fact that students who are engaged in campus life are more likely to make
better grades and graduate leading to great jobs and great lives.
We are pleased that you are interested in Greek life. We are very proud that our fraternities and sororities have a strong
emphasis on academics, as well as leadership development, organizational skills, and personal growth.
Through your participation in Greek life, you can prepare for a successful college endeavor, share experiences and
develop relationships that will influence the present, as well as your future. Our Interfraternity, Panhellenic, and National
Pan-Hellenic Councils stress personal attributes that will make you a solid, well-rounded student. Academic excellence is
emphasized, along with service to the community and leadership development. JSU fraternity and sorority members are
proud and make many contributions to the quality of campus life.
