The House seems to have
a certain magic, which at it’s most
potent is channelled through the
staff, members, art, furniture…
At Art Social 2015, I was delighted
to be reunited with Donna, the former
cook at The House of St Barnabas
when I worked there in the 1980s.
She had heard about Art Social ‘15 on
the TV news and came with her friends
to visit the House and her memories of
it. There is something about the House
that won’t let you go.
The way I came to be involved with
the House is what we are about — we
find great people and hold onto them,
nurture them and make them feel
welcome. But I think the one thing
that has really enriched my
experience has been the art that is
shown in the House. Katie Heller is a
fantastic curator and every piece that
goes up on the walls (and particularly
the installations) are a gift.
