western MUSIC
MIME
The art of mime is an art of metamorphosis. It’s not stronger than words.
Mime is an art beyond words. It is the art of the essential. And you cannot lie. You
have to show the truth. It is about “the universality of culture,” it introduces the
magic of silence and imagination to a generation shaped by the noise. Our aim
is simply to make our audience see, feel and hear the invisible. But great mime
artists have to have an inner fire. They have to have an actor’s soul and a butterfly’s body-a stillness that
is sublime.
RANGOLI
Music is about getting lost in its velvety youthfulness. Music is about interpretations that grow more
personal, so that each performance becomes a direct expression of the personality the mood and
the moment. Its about expressing angst, love, petulance and bravado – something that gives us the
vocabulary of quaint feelings – but gives the unfettered vocal aggression of soft rock or classical or
light music among singers. Its like the re-emerging of a feminine-voiced, jazzier interpreter of popular
standards who puts a more aggressive personal stamp on her songs.
The art of the transient, the art of the moment is Rangoli. The one important point that all rangoli artists
follow implicitly is to see that the entire pattern is created by an unbroken line, with no gaps to be left
anywhere so there is no opening or vent. Rangoli is born out of strong beliefs in Indian culture. Rangolis
are mostly drawn as an auspicious expression of hospitality to invite Gods/Goddesses and also guests
to bless one’s home. It unveils the design, the detailing and the hand that embodies the spirit of ritual
that is fleeting. Ultimately it is the power of the contour and the capacity of colour that blends.
WESTERN DANCE
One of the most highly anticipated events in Bosco Fiesta, Western Dance provides students with the
opportunity to show their dancing skills to the world.
Whether it’s hip-hop, popping-and-locking or robotics, the Western Dance competition has seen some
truly jaw-dropping performances in the past and is sure to live up to expectations this year as well.
