X-<strong>ray</strong> crystallography is primarily utilized for determining arrangement of particles inside crystals. The diffraction of<br />

x-<strong>ray</strong>s, after they are projected on a crystal, are measured by the crystallographer to determine the electron density<br />

of the crystal and also provides a three-dimensional image of the same. X-<strong>ray</strong> crystallography has been instrumental<br />

in determining types and lengths of chemical bonds and size of atoms among others. This is achieved primarily<br />

because crystal forms are available for semiconductors, metals, minerals, proteins and salts among others. An X-<strong>ray</strong><br />

crystallography functions by projecting x-<strong>ray</strong>s on a crystal held between the x-<strong>ray</strong> source and a screen. The<br />

diffracted <strong>ray</strong>s are captured on the screen as dotted patterns. Fourier transformation mathematics is then applied for<br />
