At noon we enjoyed a substantial luncheon at<br />
Fort Dunree hosted by John McCarter, Chairman<br />
of the Fort Dunree Military Museum, who<br />
ensured that everyone was comfortable, well fed<br />
and well received with his kind and welcoming<br />
remarks. Also in attendance, we were pleased to<br />
meet The Canadian Ambassador to the Republic<br />
of Ireland, the Honourable Kevin Vickers, whom<br />
we remember from that very dark day in Ottawa<br />
when Corporal Nathan Cirillo was fatally shot<br />
at the National War Memorial and on our Parliament<br />
Buildings were attacked in October 2014.<br />
The addition this year of an animated bus tour<br />
around Inishowen was inspired and enjoyed by<br />
all. Lieutenant Commander Rónán Mclaughlin<br />
of the Irish Navy presented a passionate, wellinformed<br />
and entertaining perspective of County<br />
Trustees George and Gwynneth Bain from Belfast and<br />
Ambassador Vickers at the Buncrana ceremony.<br />
A tribute to Canada in Londonderry’s Guild Hall<br />
Colour Party at Fahan ceremony with Trustee Walt Nicholls<br />
parading the Canadian Flag.<br />
