Nationals Baseball Day at the Park
April 23, 2016
On April 23, 2016, HBA-DC and the South Asian
Bar Association of DC held a Nationals Baseball
Day at the Park, where they witnessed the
Washington Nationals beat the Minnesota Twins 2-
0 (Go Nats!). The outing provided a networking
opportunity for members of the two organizations
along with their families and friends. Attendees
included HBA-DC President Edgar Class, Holli
Feichko, Christian Fernandez, Lillian Forero,
Carlos Garcia, Carlos Gutierrez, HBA-DC
President-Elect Ben Hernandez-Stern, Shelly
Mulkey, Ivan Prosperi, Vincent Rivas-Flores, HBA-
DC Past President Bill Rivera, Richard Rodriguez,
Diana Saavedra, HBA-DC Immediate Past
President Juan Sempertegui, and Fabian Victora.
An Evening with Danny Marti, IP Czar, The White House
April 26, 2016
On April 26, 2016, Danny Marti, who serves as U.S. Intellectual Property Enforcement Coordinator within
the Executive Office of the President, kicked off HBA-DC’s “Evening with” series. During the event,
which coincided with World Intellectual Property Day, Mr. Marti discussed his professional trajectory from
college to the White House. He is a first-generation American, born in Washington, D.C., of Spanish and
Chilean parents who came to this country speaking little English. It was an honor to hear Mr. Marti
discuss his inspiring career path and offer words of advice to our members. Guests included HBA-DC
Judicial Council member and U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia Judge Rudy Contreras.
