Polka Luka designer, Alexandra Freeman, has a background in fine arts and cultural conservation.
Over 14 years of travel and residence across east and South East Asia inspire the design
& production of each polka luka piece. Alexandra’s travels have also illustrated the value of
equitable and sensitively managed trade in improving people’s livelihoods, and the ability of
small businesses to positively effect people’s lives.

The Polka Luka team is made up of a small yet diverse team spanning Australia and Bali.
Our products are designed in Australia and then hand-produced in small runs in collaboration
with our two small workshops in Bali. This collaborative, boutique approach allows us
to have direct input into creating equitable, safe and beneficial work environments. We see
first hand the benefits this employment have brought to the individuals and their families; we
are proud of the relationships we have built, the team we have created, and the lives we have
changed. And of course we love bringing this product and our story to our customers!
