Storytimes Unless noted, registration is not required. MAIN LIBRARY Tales for Twos and Threes AGES 2 - 3 Little Theatre Join us for this Storytime, which is ideal for two- and three-year-olds. We will read stories, sing songs and make a simple craft each week. (Participants should use the Courtyard Entrance on Wyman Street directly to the left of the Main Entrance. A terrifying treat will be served. Because of moderate spookiness, this program is designed for children ages 6-12. Saturday: October 22, 2:00 - 3:30 p.m. Registration Required Incredible Inventors: Egg Drop Experiments! AGES 9 - 12 Auditorium Kids will be inventors during this exciting program! The challenge will be to design a contraption (using limited supplies) that will keep your egg safe when we drop it from the balcony. Children will have the opportunity to change and improve their contraption during the challenge. Saturday: November 12, 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. EAST BRANCH Masters of Disaster AGES 6 - 13 Friends Community Meeting Room Students in grades K-8 will learn about the disaster cycle, and what they can do to prepare, respond and recover from disasters. Children’s Programs - cont. MONTAGUE BRANCH TGI Gaming Day and Yu-Gi-Oh Tournament AGES 6 - 12 Connie Lane Room Join us for game day! From board games to card games and everything in between. Just want to play Yu-Gi- Oh? No problem! Bring your deck of cards, discuss techniques, trade game secrets with other game fans, make some friends (or bring your friends!). Fridays: September 16, October 21, November 18, December 16 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. ROCKTON CENTRE BRANCH Adventures With Building Blocks AGES 2 - 5 Program Room Your children will be using wooden blocks and Mega Bloks for construction to enhance their motor skills. It will also help them become more social and ready for preschool. So come join us and let your children use their imaginations and create adventures that will help them grow. Wednesdays: September 7, 21, October 5, 19, November 2 and 16, December 7 11:00 - 12:00 p.m. Kinder Code AGES 5 - 7 Program Room Learn how to help your child code a game in this parent and child class. You will learn how to create your own game, customize it and add it to your smart phone. This class meets monthly for 3 months. At the end, your child will be doing this without your help. Please register as 1 parent AND 1 child. Adults may not attend this without a child! Wednesdays: September 7, November 2, December 7 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. Registration Required Coding Pirates AGES 7-10 Program Room Parents are encouraged to join their Pirates in learning how to code in an hour. Create your own character and make it move, make sounds, run and much more. This class meets for three months. Adults may not attend this class without a child. Wednesdays: September 14, October 12, and November 9 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. Registration Required Coding Titans AGES 11-15 Program Room Come in and learn how to code your own game. Each month has a different theme, but you really need to attend every class to get the most out of this amazing activity. Wednesdays: October 19, November 16 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. Registration Required ROCK RIVER BRANCH Scrubby Bear AGES 2 - 10 Program Room Through the use of games and stories, children learn the importance of handwashing, proper ways of covering their mouths when they sneeze or cough, and other ways to prevent the spread of germs and diseases. Tuesday: September 27, 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. W.H.A.L.E. Tales (Water Habits Are Learned Early) AGES 2 - 10 Program Room Basic lessons include: swim with a buddy in a supervised area; be cool, follow the rule – the reasons behind water safety rules; look before you leap – choose safe places to swim and dive; reach or throw, don’t go – safe ways to rescue a swimmer in trouble; and don’t just pack it, wear your jacket. Tuesday: November 8, 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. MULTIPLE LOCATIONS Makers: Lego Masters AGES 6 - 12 Are you a Lego Master? Do you think you are up to the challenges librarians can come up with? This program mixes humor, magic, and audience participation for a show the whole family will enjoy! Auditorium Saturday: November 19 Let’s Go Donutty! Cupcakes, cookies, and donuts...which is your favorite treat? We will read funny stories about these tasty pastries and you will decorate your own paper donut. Saturday: December 3 Roly-Poly Bears White and fluffy and so much fun! We will read stories, sing songs and make a polar craft to take home. Saturday: December 10 Christmas with Rudolf! Wacky DAVE Rudolf, that is! Come celebrate the holidays with a different Rudolf! Dave Rudolf is coming to town, bringing his hilarious songs and stories to share with you.
