Kevin’s Comments
Having to make no less than 7 changes from
Saturday’s starting 11, playing against what are going
to be one of the top sides in the league (and only
having two subs), this was always going to be a stern
test for the players to try and get something from the
game.
With that in mind we set up accordingly to try and
frustrate the visitors and minimise any chances they
could create. Virginia
Water are a decent side
and started very fast,
as predicted, try to get
round our full backs with
their 4-2-3-1 formation.
Although we were under
constant pressure for
the first twenty minutes
Shaun was never really
tested in goal.
We grew into the game
trying to play a bit of
football but, with so many
key players missing, it was
hard to get a grip on the
game. To a man the lads
worked their socks off for
the cause. HT 0-0.
The second half was very
much the same: backs
to the wall seeing if the

visitors could break us
down. We defended
crosses brilliantly and
Shaun did pull off a
few good routine saves.
You sensed that, unless
something spectacular was
hit, the point was there to
take. With the lack of the
3rd sub, that did take its
toll as we were desperate
for fresh legs, but the final whistle went much to the
visitors’ frustration.
We did what we set out to do with what we had
available. With some of our more attacking players
available this week we now have something to build
on.

Yateley didn’t get out of
their half until the 8th
minute when a free kick
launched upfield was
gathered by the keeper.
A 9th minute cross from the left failed to find anyone.
In the 15th minute the host defence headed away a
corner kick at the near post.
Virginia’s 2 fouled Holden near the halfway line, but

treatment. Five minutes
from half-time Evo was
injured. HT 0-0.
Within a couple of
minutes of the second half
Baynes was booked.

minutes into the half by
