THE TALL SHIPS ARE BACK
IN ROYAL GREENWICH
From 15 to 18 September, the
majestic Tall Ships are back in London
for Sail Royal Greenwich. Visitors are
invited to take part in several cruises
on the River Thames starting from the
Greenwich Heritage Centre or the
Woolwich Royal Arsenal Pier and
passing the famous sights on the river
banks in Royal Greenwich.
London is a city best seen from the
River. Imagine a Tall Ship sailing in front of
the palatial Old Royal Naval College and
Cutty Sark; crossing the Prime Meridian at
Greenwich and slowly passing the
commercial heartland of Canary Wharf. For
an unforgettable evening experience, why
not arrange to watch a spectacular firework
display from the deck?
On board the professional crew will
serve pastry and savoury snacks
(included in the price). The VIP Thames
Tall Ship Cruise is a longer cruise, all
the way to Tower Bridge and back and
also includes a dinner buffet. Food on
board the ships will be of the highest
standard with gastronomic delights and
the scenic beauty of the River Thames
charming everyone aboard.
In addition, hospitality packages will
provide organisations and companies
the opportunity to host a corporate
hospitality event. During Sail Royal
Greenwich the finest Tall Ships and other
authentic sailing ships are available for
cruises and deck parties. The capacity of
these cruises is from 12 to 180 guests.
There are four different sailing route
options in the hospitality package; The
Maritime Greenwich; Tower Bridge;
Through Tower Bridge; and one route
with a departure from Greenwich Pier.
On Thursday and Friday in Greenwich
and on Saturday in Woolwich, the
fireworks display will provide a grand
finale to the evening cruises.
Sail Royal Greenwich also offers
cruises to individuals so anyone
interested can experience a cruise on
one of the selected Tall Ships. There are
afternoon and evening cruises open to
all, including the fireworks display.

BBC PROMS IN THE PARK
American pop and rock legends
Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons are to
headline this year’s BBC Proms in the
Park in Hyde Park on 10 September –
the annual Last Night of the Proms
spectacular, broadcast live on BBC Radio
2. Britain’s largest outdoor classical music
event, Proms in the Park, celebrates the
finale to two months of world-class
music-making at the BBC Proms festival
in London. Known for his trademark high
falsetto vocals, Frankie Valli will take to
the Hyde Park stage in a live set with his
band that promises to get everyone
dancing and into the Last Night of the
Proms party spirit.
Twenty years since the first BBC Proms
in the Park in 1996, Frankie Valli & The
Four Seasons join the BBC Concert
Orchestra and conductor Richard
Balcombe and a stellar line-up of stars
from across the pop and classical worlds
including new wave group ABC, girl band
All Saints, 1980s pop icon Rick Astley,
rock band The Feeling, tenor Juan Diego
Florez, flautist Sir James Galway,
Australian actor and comedian Tim
Minchin with cast members from Matilda:
The Musical, and Royal Choral Society.
Presented for the first time by BBC
Radio 2 presenters Michael Ball in the
evening and Anneka Rice in the
afternoon, Proms in the Park will be
broadcast live on Radio 2.
