Sunderland Literature & CREATIVE WRITING <strong>Festival</strong> 2016 Wednesday 26 October Stephanie Yearnshire - Mary Ann Cotton Washington Town Centre Library, 2 – 3pm Booking required Suggested donation £2.00 Stephanie Yearnshire, MBE, a retired superintendent with degrees in criminology and criminal justice, has worked across the world and won awards in the USA and Australia for her policing work. Mary Ann Cotton preceded Jack the Ripper and over an eight-year period poisoned her victims and in most cases benefited from their insurance money. In this talk Stephanie will question whether this was the last of a long line of deaths by her hand or if she was a mother caring for her family against a background of poverty and poor medical facilities.
