Services, Ms. <strong>Miller</strong> is a<br />

certified nurse-midwife <strong>with</strong><br />

more than 30 years of<br />

clinical experience in a wide<br />

variety of settings. Her legal<br />

background gives her a<br />

unique underst<strong>and</strong>ing of<br />

the impact of law on<br />

medicine <strong>and</strong> nursing.<br />

Ms. <strong>Miller</strong> served as an Assistant Professor in Obstetrics <strong>and</strong><br />

Gynecology at Northwestern University Medical School <strong>and</strong><br />

is published in the areas of EFM, obstetrics, <strong>and</strong> patient<br />

safety. Committed to improving the quality of perinatal<br />

health care, she lectures nationally <strong>and</strong> internationally on a<br />

variety of obstetric, women’s health, <strong>and</strong> risk management<br />

topics, currently focusing on the effects of cognitive bias<br />

during health care decision-making. Ms. <strong>Miller</strong> is on the<br />

editorial board of the Journal of Perinatal <strong>and</strong> Neonatal<br />

Nursing, <strong>and</strong> is an active member of the Association of<br />

Woman’s Health, Obstetric <strong>and</strong> Neonatal Nurses<br />

(AWHONN) serving on the Board of Directors for the 2016-<br />

2018 term. Co-author of two textbooks on electronic fetal<br />

monitoring, Fetal Monitoring: A Multidisciplinary Approach<br />

(7th edition, Mosby 2013), <strong>and</strong> Fetal Monitoring (4 th<br />

edition, Lippincott 2013), Ms. <strong>Miller</strong> also developed a<br />

companion educational tool, the EFM Workbook (1 st edition,<br />

PRMES 2014). Ms. <strong>Miller</strong> spends the majority of her time<br />

teaching multidisciplinary programs in st<strong>and</strong>ardized fetal<br />

monitoring interpretation & management, as well as patient<br />

safety <strong>and</strong> labor management.<br />
