PREFACE
This 2016 “Election Statistics,” forms part of the presentation of Statistical data by the
Department of Statistics of the Turks and Caicos Islands. The purpose of this publication is to
keep, the wider society abreast with the most recent election trends. Thus, data that date back
from as far as 1976 have been included in this publication. Over the years our parliamentarians
have all made their contributions towards creating the Turks and Caicos which we now have.
Like any other country, the Turks and Caicos Islands as a country have experience economic
growth and development. Our parliamentarians no matter their political persuasions have all
played their part in building the vibrant country which we now have today. This publication has
therefore been developed to highlight not only the results for the winners but to also highlight
the efforts of persons who may have put themselves forward but were not successful. We
therefore dedicate this statistical publication to all those persons who would have played a role
in the political arena no matter how big or small.
Users are reminded that the data in this report have been derived from information gathered
from the elections office, consultations and other researched documents. The Statistical Office
despite the many challenges over the last few years, remains committed to providing timely,
accurate, reliable and relevant statistics. The figures and graphs in this publication are
provisional. Any notifications of errors and omissions, as well as suggestions for improving the
scope, form or content of this report will be greatly appreciated.
