James frowned as the light changed and they began to cross the street along with a stream of<br />
other pedestrians. “And you didn’t think to call the police with your video?”<br />
Shermes shook his head. “No, man, I don’t get involved with the police. I don’t do that.”<br />
“What were you doing by the H2O café?”<br />
“Uh, nothing.”<br />
“Nothing? Really?”<br />
Shermes cocked his head to the left. “Well, I was flying my drone, looking . . . trying to follow<br />
. . . sorry, find something interesting. And I happened to record the shooting.”<br />
“I’ve got to see the video.”<br />
“Sure thing. But that will be it, right? You’re not gonna search my house and my files, are you?”<br />
It was James’s turn to hesitate before answering. “If I like what I see in the video, I may give<br />
you a pass. Now let’s go. Hurry!”<br />
Shermes nodded and began to jog in front of James.<br />
