What is Technology?
Technology is
• the branch <strong>of</strong> knowledge that deals
with the creation and use <strong>of</strong>
technical means and their
interrelation with life, society, and
the environment.
• the application <strong>of</strong> this knowledge
for practical ends.
• a scientific or industrial process,
invention, method or the like.
• the sum <strong>of</strong> the ways in which a
social group provides themselves
with the material objects <strong>of</strong> their
civilization.

What is Agriculture?
Agriculture is
• the science, art, or occupation
concerned with cultivating land,
raising crops, and feeding,
breeding, and raising livestock
• Farming
• the production <strong>of</strong> crops, livestock,
or poultry

What is Transportation?
Transportation is
• the act <strong>of</strong> transporting
• the business <strong>of</strong> conveying people,
goods, etc.
• examples would include cars,
trucks, planes, ships, and trains.
• infrastructure is required for
transportation (roads, bridges,
airports, waterways, and railroads).

What is Industry?
Industry is
• manufacturing or technically
productive enterprises in a
particular field (automobiles, steel,
railroad, buildings, etc..).
• trade or manufacture in general
(computer, cellular, clothing, etc..)
• systematic work (factory line, think
Henry Ford Production System).
• energetic, devoted activity at any
work or task (Steve Jobs was
industrious in his approach to
work).

What is Labor?
Labor is
• productive activity, especially for
the sake <strong>of</strong> economic gain.
• a person engaged in such activity,
especially those working for wages.
• physical or mental work towards a
job or task.
• how long is a work day?
• how many hours do you work a
week?
• what kind <strong>of</strong> safety do you have at
your job?

What is Society?
Society is
• a organized group <strong>of</strong> persons
associated together for religious,
benevolent, cultural, scientific,
political, patriotic, or other
purposes.
• a body <strong>of</strong> individuals living as
members <strong>of</strong> a community.
• a highly structured system <strong>of</strong>
human organization for large scale
community living that provides a
sense <strong>of</strong> identity.
