“Even though I live firmly in the present, I do think
sometimes about the legacy we’ll leave behind
when we are gone. That’s one good reason to build
or contribute to building an institution. Most of us
want to feel as if there will be something tangible
that speaks to what we felt was important. The
Greater Washington Urban League is a great
example of an organization that makes a lasting
impression that serves as a buffer for people
going through difficulties in their lives. It’s good
that the League is here. If it wasn’t, there would be
a large hole that someone else in the community
would have to fill.”
