Chancellor’s Message
Dear Colleagues,
Your interest in the WSCTS and especially in this 15 th World Congress assures me that the vision of a really globallyminded
Society that I have developed in the late Eighties of the last century has realized. I thank Dr. Sirvydis for the
great work he has done to make this meeting outstanding. He has also arranged that the 7 th Symposium of the World
Artificial Organ, Immunology and Transplantation Society takes place as a satellite meeting of this Congress in St. Petersburg
on June 25 and 26.
On this occasion I also take the liberty to draw your attention to those who have shared my vision since the Eighties
of the last century. The Editorial “Envisioned leadership” in the WSCTS NewsLetter No. 16 authored by Wolfgang Ade
recalls the enlightened words “Medicine is practiced humaneness.” Nobuyuki Tanaka who as Editor has taken the burden
to make that Newsletter available to the membership deserves a special citation. Both of them share my vision
since the foundation of the Society.
The preparations for the next World Congress are in the experienced hands of Tofy Mussivand. He proved his ability
as an excellent organizer during the 6 th Symposium of the World Artificial Organ, Immunology and Transplantation
Society at Ottawa.
In 2006 we will then meet in Kyoto, Japan’s capital from 794 until 1868. Masaki Komeda is already working that this
meeting will create memories that will abide with you forever.
