passion. Education is not about being an exam factory, but more of a dream factory, where passions are
discovered and confidence grows. This is not just for our students but for all who work in the school or
connect with the school. Life should be about discovering your talents, within and outside of school.
This sounds all very Disney, unicorns and cupcakes, the reality is that dreams are reached through hard
work and commitment. But, without the dream, what have you got to work towards? Our year 11
students will be testing themselves shortly in their pre public mock examinations. It is a time for them to
learn what they know and what they have yet to learn. They should work towards being the best they can
be, using the opportunity to improve and develop, in turn taking a step closer to their dream.
It’s understandable that young people don’t know the answer to which options to choose, or which ‘A’
level course to follow, it is however more damaging not to have the dream. The role of school and
arguably parenting is to encourage the dreams of our young people, to help them discover their passion,
to become dream catchers. Once we have given permission to dream, to consider great things then the
options start to become less complicated.
I wish every success to our students who are studying for forthcoming examinations, Year 11 and Year 13
and we are looking forward to supporting Year 9 students in discovering which options best fit their dreams.
