“The Blue Mountains is an option for people who have been priced out of the Sydney market,”<br />

Wilson said. “Because of the upgraded highway, which cost the NSW government $569 million,<br />

inner-city buyers didn’t have to worry as much about the commute” he said.<br />

As Sydney continued to grow west, the Blue Mountains was becoming more attractive.<br />

“There’s also increased economic activity in the west and south-west suburbs, such as<br />

Parramatta, and growing work opportunities those areas,” Dr. Wilson said.<br />

House prices across the entire Blue Mountains region increased 19.4% over<br />

the past year, not far off the 21.7 per cent surge Sydney experienced in the same period.<br />

“The prices that have been achieved for some Blue Mountains<br />

properties are unheard of - and well above the highs of the last Real<br />

Estate boom in 2003/2004”.<br />
