“The Blue Mountains is an option for people who have been priced out of the Sydney market,”
Wilson said. “Because of the upgraded highway, which cost the NSW government $569 million,
inner-city buyers didn’t have to worry as much about the commute” he said.
As Sydney continued to grow west, the Blue Mountains was becoming more attractive.
“There’s also increased economic activity in the west and south-west suburbs, such as
Parramatta, and growing work opportunities those areas,” Dr. Wilson said.
House prices across the entire Blue Mountains region increased 19.4% over
the past year, not far off the 21.7 per cent surge Sydney experienced in the same period.
“The prices that have been achieved for some Blue Mountains
properties are unheard of - and well above the highs of the last Real
Estate boom in 2003/2004”.
