Escuela Taller Magazine is the official magazine of Escuela Taller de Filipinas Foundation Inc. (ETFFI). Escuela Taller is a training center situated in Intramuros, the historical walled city of Manila, whose main objective is to equip the youth with knowledge and specialized skills to help them uplift their economic status while focusing on the preservation of heritage structures. Our trainees are the protectors of the Philippine built heritage.

1931. The Bellevue Theater is one of<br />

the oldest remaining pre-war standalone<br />

movie theaters in Manila.<br />

Adopted Philippine Islamic imagery as<br />

its art deco theme (perhaps borrowing<br />

inspiration from the tradition of<br />

moro-moro theatrical scenography or<br />

from the set design of LVN Studio’s<br />

Arabesque swashbuckling movies).<br />

Irma worked in a bank for<br />

some 30 odd years and<br />

eventually broke free to<br />

pursue her life’s passion<br />

- painting. Her love of<br />

nature – flowers, waterfalls,<br />

beaches, koi gliding<br />

in a pond – manifests<br />

through her works done<br />

in watercolor and acrylic.<br />

Irma also does sketches<br />

of cityscapes and other<br />

urban subjects, mostly<br />

of historical buildings<br />

and heritage houses, on<br />

walks with Urban Sketchers<br />

Manila. Her sketch<br />

made during the “Drawing<br />

Manila” sketchwalk<br />

– a project by AECID, the<br />

Embassy of Spain in the<br />

Philippines and Museo<br />

with the collaboration<br />
