This yearʼs Nominating Committee is composed of Mieke Epps (chair), Mary Jane Mueller, and Ginny Rohr. The Committee is still searching for a candidate to fill the Presidentʼs position. The 2012/2013 Executive Committee slate includes several new members, and your new board will have to make important decisions on allocating Partnership funds to different on going projects. It is very important that you come to this meeting to elect the members of your new Executive Committee team. Please contact Mieke at Miekeepps@sbcglobal.net if you are interested in serving on the Tulsa-Celle-Partnership 2012/2013 Executive Committee. Recent Membership Events Platt's College Foundations Restaurant Outing 3/13/12 Thirty two Partnership members and three guests came to the Platt College Foundations Restaurant to partake in a dinner prepared by students of the college under the direction of Chef Curt Hermann. As we gathered in the reception area we noticed that some of the patrons were a little apprehensive and were not quite sure of what to expect. However, as soon as we tasted the appetizers, we all realized that we were going to be treated to a gourmet meal. The "Poached Shrimps" and "grilled quails" were artfully presented and were as delicious as they looked. After savoring our main dish of either Chicken, Rack of Lamb, or Halibut, we were all wondering whether the desserts would be on par with the meal. Surprise! the desserts were flawlessly presented and every bit as tasty and enjoyable as the main meal. After the meal, Chef Hermann introduced the cooks who had prepared this gourmet delight for us, and we all gave them several rounds of applause. Chef Hermann thanked the group for coming to the school, and when we mentioned the possibility of an exchange of cooks with Celle, he felt that this idea would be worth exploring. We all had a very pleasant evening, and most of us did not leave until about 10:30PM. Several members mentioned that they would be back soon and would bring their friends along. Some even whispered that the Partnership should have another meeting at the Foundations Restaurant in the near future for those who missed out on this treat. .
# # # # # # Exchanges Tulsa to Celle Beekeepers Arnold Bieber and Barbara Taron have had several meetings with the Oklahoma Beekeepers' Association. Some of the beekeepers are very interested in going to Celle to attend a seminar designed for them by the Celle Bee Institute. One group of five beekeepers will be attending the first Celle seminar on 5/23, 5/24, and 5/25. Another group is planning on making the trip sometimes in September if the air fares are affordable. Arnold Bieber invited the first group of Beekeeper travellers to a “German style” dinner at the Gast Center on March 27th, to discuss the different aspects of the trip and to answer the travellers’ questions. Susanne Reineke who happened to be in town that day joined us for dinner and was able to meet the five beekeepers. We thank Arnold for setting up the meeting and for donating the food. Barthelmes Conservatory On 3/15/12 , Arnold Bieber, Barbara Taron, and twelve members of GAST and the Tulsa-Celle-Partnership attended a lunch presentation at the Bathelmes Conservatory. Our hosts were Executive Director Kate Reeves, and Director of Operations Candice Chinsethagid. The two ladies explained to us the goals of the conservatory, its curriculum, and its teaching philosophy. We were also given a tour of the classrooms at the Conservatoryʼs new premises. We all left the music school with a better understanding of the operation of the Conservatory, and we were all impressed with its goal of fostering the music education of gifted students from various backgrounds. Once the meeting was over, Barbara made a short presentation to the two Barthelmes executives to explain our Sister City relationship with Celle. Barbaraʼs presentation was well received and the two Directors, agreed to investigate the possibilty of taking a small group of outstanding students to Europe in the first part of 2013. The group would stop in Celle for a few days, and possibly meet with students of the “Kaiserin Auguste Viktoria Gymnasium”, or the Kreismusikschule before travelling to other music oriented cities such as Vienna. The possibility of giving a small concert performance in Celle was also briefly discussed. It was agreed that the Partnership would submit a trip proposal for review by the Barthelmes Conservatory, and that if the proposal is accepted the partnership would offer a stipend to the conservatory to fund a portion of the costs. The possibility of the Conservatory holding fund raising events to obtain the rest of the necessary funds was also discussed.
