Hydrolife Magazine December/January 2017 (USA Edition)

In this issue, we explore Bitcoin and its use in the cannabis industry; how to best insure your growing business; and how dosage is tested. Mark Ward describes how cannabis helped him get back on stage with his band Synthetic Mindset, and Jay Hawley tells us how marijuana inspired him to create Stormebud. With these stories and more, it is clear that the marijuana industry is becoming accepted in virtually every segment of society, and it’s just a matter of time before the federal government legalizes it. It’s an inevitability that even President-elect Trump will have trouble stopping.

American citizens voted in some big
changes on Nov. 8. Yes, Presidentelect
Donald Trump is a big change, to
be sure. But so is California, Nevada,
Massachusetts, and Maine all legalizing
recreational cannabis for adults aged 21
years and older. California’s referendum
success is seen as a gamechanger
since it’s the most populous state in the
country (and the sixth largest economy
in the world), and could become Ground
Zero for marijuana production in the
US. It could very well prove to be the
death knell for federal prohibition
because before, only a handful of
Congress representatives were from
states that had legalized cannabis.
Now, more than 100 are. November’s
outcomes will more than triple the
number of Americans living in states
where recreational cannabis is allowed.
Before the vote, Colorado, Washington,
Oregon, Alaska, and the District of
Columbia allowed recreational weed.
On Nov. 8 Florida, Arkansas, and North
Dakota also voted to allow medical
marijuana, resulting in a total of
28 states that now allow cannabis
for medicinal purposes. While not
legalizing marijuana, four other
grow. heal. live. enjoy.
states voted to remove jail time for
possession of small amounts of
marijuana. All these states will soon
get to work to creating frameworks
and issuing licenses and permits that
allow the recreational and medical
marijuana industries to operate. As
the movement goes boldly forward,
so, too, does Hydrolife. In this issue,
we explore Bitcoin and its use in the
