Nursery & P1 Enrolment Evenings
Our Nursery Enrolment Evening will take place
on Tuesday 29 November at 7.00 pm. Our P1
Enrolment Evening will take place on Thursday
01 December at 7.00 pm.
We hope you can recommend Rathmore
Primary School to your neighbours and friends.
(Formal DENI Enrolment Forms are distributed
on these nights and must be returned by 12.00
noon Wednesday 11 January 2017. Invitations
will been posted next week to all families who
have shown an interest in joining Rathmore.
After-School Activities start back
this week (for 4 wks)
The last week of After-School Activities for
Term 1 is the week beginning 28 November.
Parent Teacher Consultations
Thank you to everyone who attended our Parent/
Teacher Consultations in October. We hope you
found them informative and supportive.
P1 - P7 Vaccination Programme
This year’s flu vaccination programme (taking the
form of a nasal spray) will be administered to pupils
at Rathmore Primary School on Monday 21 and
Tuesday 22 November.
There will be a letter providing more information,
that will be issued by the Health Trust in the
incoming week that require a response. Please
return your vaccination forms as soon as possible.
P1 Parents
Playgrounds in the Morning
It has been a great start to school for our P1 pupils.
They have all settled well and now know where to
line up in the playgrounds in the morning. Now that
this routine has been established, can we request
that those parents/guardians who are dropping
their children off and wishing to stay until the bell,
move to the periphery of the playground. This will
allow our children to play and our staff to supervise
them more effectively. If you feel that your child
needs to be close to you, you may decide to arrive
at school closer to 9.00am.
Gates are locked at 9.10am and the school becomes
secure for the school day.

NSPCC - Net Aware
Last month, NSPCC were in Rathmore, taking
assemblies across the school and delivering
workshops in Key Stage 2. These events were
excellent at raising our pupils’ awareness of
their rights and developing their understanding
of keeping safe. The NSPCC staff were
excellent, dealing with important issues in a
sensitive manner.
At the time they informed us of a fantastic
resource for parents - Net Aware. This is a no
nonsense guide for parents and teachers from
the NSPCC and O2 to guide you through
social media, apps and games that young
people use. It can be accessed online or
through their app.
Their site is regularly updated with reviews on
the most popular apps, websites and social
media/networking sites, providing parents with
the top three positive things about each site as
well as the top three identified issues. This is
invaluable in understanding the digital world
that our young people are engaging in and
giving us the tools to initiate conversations
with them regarding their safety.

Cash for Clobber
Our first collection for ‘Cash for Clobber’ will
take place on Friday 11 November. Please
leave any bags (distributed before half term)
of old clothes and shoes in the front foyer on
Friday morning.
PTA Family Photo Night
Thursday 10 November
This is a great opportunity to have a Family
Portrait taken for Christmas. Leaflets have
been distributed and spaces are filling up fast
so please contact the office to reserve a photo
session if you are interested.

month.
Charity
Thank you to everyone who supported our
Har vest Charity. ‘Storehouse’ was
overwhelmed by your response and asked
us to pass on their appreciation for our
large donation!
British Legion Poppy Appeal - we will be
selling poppies this week.
Children in Need
On Friday 18 November, it is Children In
Need day. There is no theme this year, so
pupils can come to school wearing Children
in Need accessories with their uniform. On
the day, we will be learning about the
charity work and collecting any voluntary
contributions. Pudsey wristbands will be on
sale from this week and all proceeds will be
donated to the appeal.
P4 ‘Archibald’s War’
P4 pupils will be on stage on 15 and 17
November performing their play ‘Archibald’s
War’ which is linked to their World War 2
topic. The rehearsals are going well and
tickets are now on sale – Good luck
everyone!
PTA Movie Night
To finish our first half term, the PTA held a
Pyjamas & Pillow Movie Night. With 400
children in attendance, complete with
popcorn and drinks, it was a really fun night
raising an amazing £872. Thank you for all
your support.
