SINCE THE BEGINNING OF THIS YEAR, St+Art India Foundation has taken the onus of
interpreting our cities by creating conversations around local stories. In Delhi, they
created the Lodhi Art District, the first public art district in India with more than 28
street artists working to re-invigorate the iconic Lodhi Colony area. Between
December 2015 and March 2016, several walls between Khanna Market and
Meherchand Market were turned into a spectacle – an open-air art gallery accessible
to everyone. More recently, they recreated this feat in Bengaluru (October) and
Hyderabad (November). In Bengaluru, they created narratives between Cubbon Park,
MG Road and Majestic metro stations and also their surrounding areas, and in
Hyderabad, several sites on the iconic Necklace Road came alive through murals,
installations, talks, screenings and workshops.
