term. Wolter is also

group. For more than 25 years, Wolter
has concentrated on counseling insurers
and other clients on strategies designed
to address internal and external fraud.
n Nicholas W. Anderson has joined
Johnson, Killen & Seiler as an associate.
Anderson is a 2016 graduate, cum
laude, of the University of Minnesota
Law School.
n The Board of
Public Defense has
appointed Jim Fleming
2nd Judicial
District chief public
defender. Fleming
was a partner in the
Mankato law firm
of Maschka, Riedy
Jim Fleming & Ries, where he
practiced in the
areas of criminal defense and personal
injury. Prior to private practice, Fleming
was the chief public defender in the 5th
Judicial District from 2001 to 2007.
n John A. Richter has joined Best &
Flanagan as an associate in its business
law section. Richter is a recent graduate
of the University of Iowa College of Law
and works with individuals, closely held
businesses, non-profit organizations, and
corporations across a variety of industries.
n Gabriel “Gabe” Johnson joined the
Law Offices of Schroeder & Mandel, LLC
handling cases involving workers’ compensation,
no-fault arbitrations, and personal
injury litigation. Johnson, a graduate
of the University of Minnesota-Duluth
and California Western School of Law, has
practiced in Minneapolis and Duluth.
n Elizabeth B. Bryant and Michael D.
Dittberner have been Board Certified
as Family Law Trial Advocates by the
National Board of Trial Advocacy (a
Minnesota Board of Legal Certification
Accredited Agency). Bryant and Dittberner
are both shareholders with Linder,
Dittberner, Bryant & Winter, Ltd.
n John H. Stout
was elected a
Fellow of the
American College
of Governance
Counsel. Stout
advises executives,
boards, and
individual directors
and officers of forprofit
and nonprofit
John H. Stout
organizations on a variety of domestic
and international governance matters.
Stout is an attorney at Fredrikson &
Byron and co-chairs the firm’s corporate
governance and business sustainability
& social responsibility group.
n Bradley R. Bultman joined Larson
· King as an associate. Bultman will
continue to represent clients in complex
litigation matters, including product liability,
toxic tort, and business litigation.
While working at a prominent litigation
firm in Chicago, Bradley served both as
national coordinating counsel and local
counsel in mass tort and toxic tort cases.
n Child Support Magistrate Jim
Brinegar is retiring after nearly
15 years on the bench, mainly in the
4th and 10th judicial districts. He had
a previous career as a psychologist and
university professor, and thinks that
law was more fun, though more
demanding at times. Brinegar also
taught family law at William Mitchell
for five semesters. Employed in some
capacity since 1962, Brinegar says it is
time to sleep in more often.
n Kirby C. Graff joined Sanford,
Pierson, Thone and Strean, PLC in
October 2016 as an associate. Graff
received his J.D. in 2013 from the
University of North Dakota School of
Law. His legal practice focuses primarily
on civil litigation and creditor remedies.
Also, Cole A. Hickman was named a
partner at the firm. His primary practice
areas include estate planning and
representing closely held businesses.
Hickman is licensed to practice law in
Minnesota and North Dakota state courts
as well as the U.S. District Court for the
District of Minnesota.
n David Schultz,
a partner in
Maslon LLP’s
litigation group,
was honored with
the 2016 Never
Forgotten Award
by the Innocence
Project of Minnesota
during its David Schultz
2016 Benefit for
Innocence on November 10. The award
is a way to recognize individuals who act
to improve the justice system by going
above and beyond ordinary efforts to
overturn wrongful convictions.
