Can You Dance? Was founded in 2012 by BBC TV series ‘So You Think
You Can Dance’ winner Matt Flint and Tom Shilcock, who reached the final
five. The aim of the convention is to make dance accessible for all ages and
abilities, whether it’s to pursue a career in performing arts or just dance for
fun. It’s also a great place to discover new talent. Visitors can browse the
Industry Exhibition, shop for dance wear, find out about college
opportunities and seek career advice as well as take part in seminars and
masterclasses with dance experts all in one place.
The events take place throughout the year in various UK towns and
Performers College are always in attendance with a fabulous routine to
highlight our Outstanding Ofsted Award and promote our fabulous facilities.
Earlier this year we were in Worcester, Nottingham, Leeds, and Newcastle,
where we were able to promote the college and showcase our talented
students who performed their breath-taking Sing Sing Sing routine
choreographed by Emma Rogers, which brought the house down at every
event!
Next year CYD will also be in Essex for the first time and of course we
couldn't miss that opportunity! Our other venues for 2017 are Norwich &
Nottingham - see you there!
Boys Day on 8th October was another successful event. With over 30 boys aged between
13 to 18 spending the day at Performers College. It was a great opportunity for them to sign
up for a full day of classes for free! Split into two age related classes they were put through
their paces by Performers College Tutors, Kieran Jae, Ken Lewis, Blair Tookey and former
graduate Jon Smith and loved every minute! Our next Boys Day will be held on Saturday
24th June 2017. We are taking bookings already so book early to avoid disappointment!
